Mint to Be: A Modern Charleston Wedding
Mixing charming hues of burgundy with mint green, this week's featured #AmareCoutureBride Kim shares her love story and stunning details from her classically romantic modern Charleston wedding.
When it came to saying "yes" to the dress, Kim stepped through the doors of Wedding Angels with a certain look and style in mind. She envisioned a simple sheath wedding gown with straps and a v-neckline. It took the special touch and detailed customization offered by Amare Couture to make the dream dress come to life.
Kim chose Style #B088 from our Catherine Collection as a baseline to work with her imagination. She modified the neckline of the wedding dress to an elegant v-shape, adding a natural modern flair.
"I had a pin on the front of the size 12 sample dress, clipping it down to give me a better idea of what the v-neck would look like - as close as I was going to get (and silly looking, to say the least). It took some imagination, but after they put a veil on me, and I gave a few more spins, I said 'yes!'"
When Kim later received her custom wedding gown, tailored to the specifications of her taste and vision, she knew she had found the dress of her dreams!
Kim and Robbie had originally planned for a fall wedding in Charleston-- but by the time their wedding date (October 8th) approached, a mandatory evacuation was ordered just four days before the wedding by the govornor of South Carolina, due to Hurricane Matthew.
"As we somberly drove to Atlanta, we honestly did not think we were still going to get married that weekend; but our families, determined to see us have our happy ending, rallied together and planned an entirely new wedding in record time!"
The backyard of a bridesmaid's house was magically transformed into a rustic oasis, complete with details of fall pumpkins, hay, sunflowers, and candles hanging from tree branches. A close family friend from the groom's side drove down from Kentucky to officiate the ceremony on the exact date that was originally planned: October 8th, 2016.
Fast forward three months and #Idotaketwo was put into action! While still able to accommodate the bridal party, the wedding festivities were rescheduled to January 14th, 2017.
"We also really did not want to lose our photographers - they were one of the first vendors we booked and absolutely loved their work and would not settle for anything less! Aaron and Jill already had thirty-something weddings booked for 2017, but thankfully had January 14th available, so we snatched them up again! Although rescheduling the wedding brought its own stress and challenges, it was worth it! We now have wonderful memories from two completely different, amazing weddings and could not have asked for anything more!"
Kim chose the unique combination of burgundy and mint green for her wedding colors, creating a stunning combination of airy vibrance and dark sophistication.
Kim's favorite wedding moment was their first announcement as husband and wife. "It was in credible to have everyone we love all in the same room together, just for us. I was on cloud nine!"
Kim's advice to future brides is to soak up some time to gather your thoughts and calm any nerves before the ceremony. "DonΓÇÖt be the last to get your hair and makeup done. You will still look perfect and fresh if you are second or even third to last. This will give you time to round up your thoughts, your bridesmaids and any other last minute items (trust me, there are always last minute items) before calmly getting dressed."
Even with the unplanned obstacles of having to reschedule a wedding, Kim and Robbie still found their way to the wedding asile in the presence of their closest friends and family. Some things are just meant to be.
